A statement from a reliable source in District 2490 (Israel) today indicated the controversial issue of Rotary International's charter of the East Jerusalem Rotary Club to "Palestine" will soon be resolved. Another reliable source told the author of this post that Rotary General Secretary is "dealing with the matter."
An unconfirmed policy statement from a Rotary District 2490 source indicated that the issue would be "resolved soon."
The presenting problem is that today Jerusalem is a unified city under Israeli sovereignty and not a part of an independent, UN recognized Palestinian state. Thus, it appears that Rotary has stepped into political quicksand by "dividing" Jerusalem.
